From the desk of Rev Becky

Greetings Beloved Community.

Our theme for June is Obstacles Be Gone with the affirmation of: “I turn the boulders along my path into pebbles to cushion my journey.” In the spiritual tradition of Unity, we recognize that life is not about avoiding obstacles but transforming them. Our Teachings encourage us to view every challenge not as a punishment or deterrent, but as an opportunity for growth, spiritual awareness, and divine unfolding. The affirmation “I turn the boulders along my path into pebbles to cushion my journey” embodies this deeply empowering idea.

In Unity, we acknowledge that our thoughts have creative power. When faced with difficulty, our spiritual practice invites us to reframe the situation: What is this moment asking of me? How can this obstacle be used for good? Instead of perceiving a boulder as something that blocks the path, we affirm that it can be broken down and repurposed or transformed into the very substance that supports our next step.

This shift in perspective aligns with Unity's principles of spiritual evolution and the inherent presence of divine order. When we affirm our spiritual authority, we access the strength and clarity to move through difficulties with grace. We do not deny the presence of the challenge—we transmute it.

The affirmation also reminds us of the indwelling Christ presence—the divine essence within each of us. We teach that we are co-creators with Spirit. We are not helpless in the face of adversity. When we affirm, “I turn the boulders along my path into pebbles,” we claim our creative capacity to reshape life’s trials into spiritual steppingstones.

Obstacles, in this light, are not barriers but sacred teachers. The illness, the job loss, the heartbreak—each has within it the seed of transformation. Each boulder carries hidden blessings waiting to be uncovered by our faith, love, and persistence.

There is a beautiful twist in the affirmation: the very substance that once seemed harsh and immovable becomes the soft padding beneath our feet. Pebbles cushion the journey. They represent gentleness, wisdom, and a new awareness that emerges only after we've faced what once loomed large.

In this way, Unity affirms that we are never alone. Spirit goes before us to make the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth. As we release fear and align our consciousness with Truth, we find that our journey becomes easier—not because the world has changed, but because we have changed.

In Unity, we do not pretend life is without challenge. But we do affirm that with Spirit, all things are possible. Every boulder can become a blessing. Every difficulty can become a doorway. With faith, love, and the power of our spoken word, we transform not just the path—but ourselves.

Affirm again:
“I turn the boulders along my path into pebbles to cushion my journey.”
And so it is.

Many Blessings,

Rev. Becky
