Greetings from Unity of Little Rock

August's Theme - Accepting Change

August is already here, and we are once again on the cusp of changing seasons, probably the most marked time of the year for changesto be evident.

The focus this month is, “That’s a Change” and this month’s affirmation, "I embrace change as a gift of tomorrow," is a declaration of openness to the future and trust in the divine process. This affirmation reminds us that change is not a threat but a promise of something better, something higher, and something more aligned with our true purpose.

In life, change is not just inevitable; it’s essential for growth and transformation. Unity teachings, which focus on spiritual growth, personal empowerment, and the practice of positive thinking, provide a powerful perspective on how we can view change. Rather than resisting it or fearing the unknown, Unity invites us to embrace change as a gift, an opportunity to evolve and step into our greater good.

Unity emphasizes that we are all divine expressions of God (by whatever name you call Source), each with the inherent power to shape our lives through the way we think, feel, and act. Central to our philosophy is the idea that change is an essential part of our spiritual journey, and by aligning our minds with divine principles, we can harness change to create a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

We are encouraged to see change not as something that disrupts or destabilizes us but as a divine process that supports our personal growth. We understand that the universe is always in motion, constantly shifting and evolving. Just as nature goes through cycles of renewal, we do as well.

When we say, “I embrace change,” we acknowledge that change is part of our journey. We no longer view it with resistance or fear, but rather as an invitation to experience something new. It’s a call to release the old and make space for the new, whether it’s a shift in our relationships, career, health, or inner spiritual life.

The second part of the affirmation, “as a gift of tomorrow,” reminds us that change is inherently forward moving. It holds the potential to unlock new opportunities, greater wisdom, and expanded consciousness. Change carries the energy of hope, renewal, and possibility. When we trust that tomorrow holds something wonderful, we begin to see each day as a chance to grow, to learn, and to step into a new version of ourselves.

One of the foundational teachings of Unity is that our thoughts and beliefs shape our reality. If we approach change with fear and resistance, it can feel overwhelming and unsettling. However, if we choose to embrace change with faith and trust in the divine flow, it becomes a powerful catalyst for transformation. The idea of seeing change as a gift of tomorrow shifts our perspective from one of lack or uncertainty to one of possibility and abundance.

In Unity, we are taught to affirm the truth of our spiritual nature and to see ourselves as whole, perfect, and complete. From this place of spiritual wholeness, change is no longer something that disrupts our sense of identity, but rather an invitation to reveal more of our authentic selves. When we welcome change, we acknowledge that we are not defined by our past but are constantly evolving into a more enlightened and empowered version of ourselves.

A key component of embracing change is the practice of letting go. In Unity, letting go doesn’t mean losing something valuable; it means releasing attachments to the old, outdated ways of thinking, being, or doing. By letting go, we make room for something new and expansive to enter our lives. It’s through this release that we create space for divine order and higher possibilities to unfold.

The affirmation, “I embrace change as a gift of tomorrow,” encourages us to let go of the past and trust that the future holds something far more fulfilling. Whether it’s an old habit, limiting belief, or an outdated relationship, releasing what no longer serves us opens the door to greater opportunities.

Our teachings remind us that we are never alone in the process of change. The divine presence is always with us, guiding us toward our highest good. Change, therefore, is not something we face alone; it is part of the larger divine plan for our lives. The affirmation helps us align with this divine guidance, trusting that the changes we experience are leading us toward greater fulfillment and purpose.

In Unity, we are taught that change is not something to fear, but rather something to welcome with open arms. The affirmation, “I embrace change as a gift of tomorrow,” invites us to trust the process of transformation and to view each moment of change as a divine opportunity for growth and renewal.

When we align ourselves with this perspective, we have the ability to move through life’s transitions with grace and ease, knowing that each change brings us closer to the highest expression of our true selves. Embracing change becomes not just a practice, but a way of life—one that empowers us to live with purpose, faith, and joy.

As you continue your spiritual journey, remember that change is the very tool that propels you toward the next level of your personal and spiritual development. Embrace it with open arms, knowing that it is a gift—a gift of tomorrow.
